Below is more information from Godcasting Productions about podcasting the Word of God.

Podcasting is a term which has sprung up in recent years and describes a new technology that can be used to publish audio content on the internet.  First developed around the Apple iPod mp3 players, the “Pod” in podcasting has come to represent the words Programming On Demand.  Podcasters have the advantage over live programming because their content is always available to their listeners 24/7 via internet download.  This means that listeners aren’t tied to a clock or a radio to hear the programs they like, but rather, can hear the programs they want, when they want.

Another advantage of Podcasting is part of the technology called RSS syndication.  During the Podcasting process, an RSS “feed” is generated which allows listeners to Subscribe to the various Podcasts that they like.  Podcatcher programs, as they are sometimes called, like iTunes automatically detect when a new episode is produced from a Podcast you have subscribed to.  After detection, the Podcatcher automatically downloads the file to the location on your hard drive that you choose, or even directly on to your mp3 player.  The listener can then listen at their leisure either at the computer or through their portable mp3 player.
